01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Down a narrow lane from Nakameguro Station, アグラード 中目黒 is a Spanish bar serving authentic Spanish flavours in a casual setting. On the first floor, counter seats let diners watch the cooking up close; upstairs, tables offer a quieter place to settle in with a drink.
Freshly cooked paella, rich with the flavour of the broth
The paella, available in a range of varieties, makes a memorable centrepiece for an evening meal. The seafood paella absorbs a generous broth made from ingredients including red shrimp. Its deep shrimp-miso flavour reaches every grain of rice. The Basque-style clam paella is another well-regarded choice, simply prepared with sea bream broth and Italian parsley. The options make it easy to choose according to the size of your group and your preferences. Other options include squid-ink paella, one made with wild boar from Mugi in Tokushima Prefecture, and fideuà, cooked with short pasta. Sizes can be adjusted, making these dishes easy to order whether you're dining alone or with a group.
Colourful tapas and charcoal-grilled dishes
While the paella cooks, there is a generous selection of small plates to enjoy with a drink. The five-piece tapas platter brings together dishes such as olives marinated with anchovies, marinated sardines and Spanish omelette—a fitting start to the first toast. For something heartier, the menu includes charcoal-grilled presa, a rare cut of top-grade Bellota Iberico pork, as well as homemade hamburger skewers with a smoky char and charcoal-grilled bone-in lamb.
Spanish wines and a varied drinks list
The drinks list includes more than 20 natural wines, all from Spain, available by the glass or bottle to pair with the food. Sherry ranges from fino and manzanilla to sweet Pedro Ximénez. The list also features four Spanish beers at any given time and sangria, rounding out a distinctly Spanish selection. For those not drinking, there is also Mosto Blanco, grape juice made with Albariño grapes, and non-alcoholic beer, so a meal can still be enjoyed without alcohol.
